Thailand responded to the UN's call by sending more than 6,000 troops to Korea between 1950 and 1955. It was the only Southeast Asian country to send a combat battalion and naval units, including the frigate HTMS Prasae.
Thai troops participated in crucial engagements such as the Battle of Pork Chop Hill, where they demonstrated great courage under extreme combat conditions. Their professionalism was recognized by both Allied commanders and South Korea.
This military commitment marked the beginning of a strong relationship between Thailand and South Korea, strengthened by shared experience in defending sovereignty and freedom against authoritarian regimes.
