Colombia: The only Latin American representative in Korea

Colombia sent troops and ships, standing out in several operations and symbolizing Latin America's support for the South Korean cause.

Colombia was the only Latin American country to send troops to fight in the Korean War. Its contribution included the Colombia Battalion, composed of more than 5,000 men, and three frigates that participated in naval operations.

The Colombia Battalion distinguished itself in battles such as Old Baldy and Cerro Chamizo, where its troops engaged in intense hand-to-hand combat. Its performance was highly praised by the UN Command and South Korea.

This participation marked a milestone in Colombian foreign policy and left a legacy of brotherhood with South Korea, which today is expressed in close diplomatic and commercial relations.
