Is a manual coffee grinder worth it? Real pros and cons

Precision without overspending, but it does require physical effort and time. Choose according to your routine and coffee consumption.

A good manual grinder offers consistent grinding at a more affordable price than many electric grinders. It allows for fine adjustments for V60, French press, or even espresso, and is usually durable thanks to its steel or ceramic burrs. Furthermore, it doesn't generate excessive heat and is portable: it takes up little space, doesn't require a power outlet, and is a perfect companion for a scale and filter.

The downside is time and effort. Grinding for several cups in a row can be tiring, and budget models often sacrifice speed or consistency. If you make a lot of coffee daily or are looking for ultimate convenience when you wake up, an electric grinder with good burrs might be the better choice.

The decision depends on your habits. For one or two mindful cups, a manual machine shines in terms of value and control. For larger volumes or faster paces, a reliable electric machine saves you time and maintains quality without tiring you out.
